What birthday gift should I give my female friend? But I like her!?

Okay….going to make this as brief as possible. She just broke up with her boyfriend, she is my best female friend and we get along and talk everyday. We thought about dating but doesn’t know cause she said she need more time to get her mind straight, cause of this whole ex-boyfriend thing. I want to get her a birthday gift (coming up in a couple days), but not an over the top one either. That would just be sooo desperate on my part. I don’t think the usual Bath and Body works for a female friend would work, cause I want to show her I care more than just friends but not over-whelming. Any ideas?!

So if she’s your best female friend you should know something about her right? Right! Well this is where those listening skills come into play.
Did she mention anything that she wants, or even just admired anything in your presence that’s in the ‘friend price range’? Does she always wear a certain type of scarf or hair pins? Does she like to write? Does she really like novelty themed socks? pez dispensers? coloured paper clips? Maybe given her circumstances a really nice journal and you could tell her you thought she might like a private place to record and work through her thoughts. Maybe she really loves Doritos and you could make her a Doritos variety gift-basket with a bunch of flavours.
I handmade my best friend a sock monkey many 9 years ago and he still has it.
That’s what you need to get her, something unique and simple, but not too intimate, something that shows you are paying attention. Get creative, she will be cheered up and always remember that you cared enough to get her something personal.
For what it’s worth sock monkey man and I have been in love and together for 7 years now. There is hope for the future.
