Gift Basket ideas for my boyfriend’s parents!?

Okay I need a little help to get some idea of what to put into a Simple but Classy Christmas Gift Basket for my boyfriends parents under a budget of $40.

His father is diabetic so I was thinking meats and cheeses for his gift basket, but I don’t know what
cheese to get or meats or crackers.

For his mother I was going to go the sweet route, homemade Christmas cookies, candy canes, chocolates, but I’m not sure what else..

Where to find cheap baskets to put everything in?
What meats, cheeses, and crackers?
What can I add to his mother’s basket that’s kind of sentimental, snow globe or something nice but cheap?

And just so its out there, its not that I am purposely trying to be cheap, its just that I don’t get pain a lot so I’m on a tight budget.
Again Boyfriend’s Father is Diabetic! NO SWEETS!

They are very traditional parents, movies, technology, not so much in their interests although that is a very good idea!

My dad is diabetic and my mom is not, so I won’t recommend you get HER anything sweet either or he will be tempted to have some anyway. It’s better for diabetics to stay away from dairy products as well, that includes cheeses. No crackers either. If you stay away from food, you can give them one basket to both of them or put in apples and almonds or walnuts.

Any craft store, Target or Wal-Mart would have cheap baskets, or you could buy two stockings and fill them.

A few of these (I made them for my dad) No flour and no sugar

Jumbles

3 large bananas, mashed
2 cups rolled oats
1 cup chopped dates
1/3 cup oil
Dash of salt
1 tsp vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine all ingredients, let set 15 minutes. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
